One of the beautiful pleasure of travel is enjoying local cuisine but sometimes I get a hankering for a bite with flavors of home. While staying in Cabarete, Domincan Republic over NYE 2019-2020, I came across the perfect cafe that serves sweet and savory waffles, smoothie bowls, protein bowls & all varities of delicious coffee that gave me that little taste my soul needed.

Cabarete is known for it’s winds which are perfect for traditional surfing and kitesurfing. Both attract a laid back hippy crowd who enjoy nutrious bites that to fit my palete as well. Of the many cafes in this charming wind-blown town, Vagamundo Waffle & Coffee was my favorite for their fun, sweet and savory waffles (my personal favorite was the peanut butter and bacon covered waffled name for Elvis Presley) and their secret spiced coffee latte.
In addition to super sweet waffles with large sugar grains dotted throughout, they offer protein bowls, acai bowls and a variety of open face toasts that are tasty as they are beautiful.
