See the Grand Canyon in Winter

It snows in the desert! I swear I did not know that the Grand Canyon’s arid landscape receives snow and ice until I was in the car road-tripping to this massive Natural Wonder in February 2017! The site was magical and we spent two days hiking along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park but were not brave enough to use crampons to climb into the canyon on its icy trails.

Just 4 and 1/2 hours from Las Vegas sits the magnificent canyon and the entry point my sister and I visited is along the South Rim. Watch the short video below to get views of the snow-covered canyon and to see our amusing reactions!

To get the best lodge rate while visiting the canyon this winter: book one night directly through the park’s website then upon arrival ask the manager if you can extend your stay for a discounted rate! My sister and I were able to stay an extra night for half the online booking price!
